Who needs up to the minute forensic technology and highly trained photo-fit experts?
The Telegraph reports that Police in Bolivia have arrested at least one man in connection with a murder in which a taxi driver was stabbed eleven times and set on fire. Police say the murder was “either a drugs-related hit or a crime of passion.” There really is nothing like being a bit vague.poli
What is quite impressive though, is that police have arrested at least one man (again, nice and vague) on the strength of what has to be the world’s worst ever photo-fit image. A drawing done by a neighbor which looks like the work of a child – and not a terribly gifted one at that – has been said to resemble “nothing more than the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz.”
It must surely be time to start questioning why we are wasting all that money on forensics and technology. All you really need to do is pull someone with no discernible artistic flair off the witness list and get hand them a pencil. If the Bolivians can manage to make arrests on the basis of a laughable sketch, what are we doing wrong?
