Watching Max Azria’s girls (angels?) thump the planks (earth) was an ethereal site yesterday morning as the fashion world sat transfixed as Azria taunted us with sleek clean wistful lines and sheaths of taut colors as he unveiled his 2010 Spring Collection. The audience packed to the rafters watched attentively (and each other) as the girls pressed hard against electro glam rock.
With attention paid to minimalist form, Azria paid grace to a lithe silhouette with dyed pastel green hues (which got the audience visibly jumping), light greys, muted yellows, reds and mauves cascaded one after the other as razor thin cheekbones and struts amalgamated in high density across the main tent.
Paying homage to clean lines and the sudden impasse in the fashion world Azria rather than trying to reinvent form and aspire to gaudiness committed himself to what he knows best or rather if known best for – sleek adulterous forms that leave you salivating and in ethereal grace.
The collection is destined to be a crowd pleaser and with its accessible forms, fabrics, low slung shoulders and high hems the jet set and aspirant will be thumping the lower East side in the not too distant future with his vision firmly imbued by their sashay…
