Summer in NY is about to get a whole lot safer for our little angels.
MSNBC: Dodgeball, Red Rover, Wiffle Ball – those time-honored kids’ games, along with activities like Steal the Bacon and Capture the Flag – have been deemed dangerous by New York State as part of an effort to tighten regulations for summer camps.
As this country faces a childhood obesity epidemic, it’s nice to see our elected officials wage war on scraped knees and exercise. Anytime you can trade a raspberry for full-blown diabetes you have pull the trigger, as one parents seems to agree:
“Kids these days are kinda brutal so I can see those games being dangerous,” Bronx mom Kim Wainwright told the News.
Any statement beginning with “kids these day” usually is a statement of unfounded rhetoric. Other wobbly crutches include, “when I was a kid…,” and, “they just don’t make them like they used to,” but that’s not the point here.
The point is: Exercise-restricting legislation is THE LAST DAMNED THING THIS COUNTRY NEEDS. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW WIFFLE BALL IS DANGEROUS.
