Allison Havemann-Niedrach former special education teacher at Freehold Intermediate School, NJ sentenced to 12 years jail for ‘ruining’ student victim who she groomed and coerced into sex relationship with & whom she was obsessed with.
A Freehold, New Jersey teacher who previously pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of her then 15 year old student has been sentenced to 12 years jail.
Allison Havemann-Niedrach, a 45-year-old former teacher at Freehold Intermediate School, broke down in tears upon being sentenced on Friday, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Niedrach had been indicted on seven counts, including endangering the welfare of a child, endangering the welfare of a child by way of the manufacture of child sexual abuse materials, official misconduct and sexual assault. The additional charges were dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
Student victim thought it ‘was his fault’
The student, who was not identified, said his months-long relationship with the special education teacher was ‘like a nightmare’ and that he would not want anyone to suffer the same experience.
‘For two or three years, I thought it was my fault,’ he told the court.
‘I forgive her for what she did,’ he said, prompting the ex-educator to burst into tears.
Prosecutors said that Havemann-Niedrach, a married mother of two was ‘obsessed’ with the teen.
‘I apologize profusely for my actions,’ Havemann-Niedrach told the court. ‘I am moved by his forgiveness.’
The sentencing follows, Havemann-Niedrach pleading guilty in January to sexually assaulting the boy when he was in eighth grade over a six-month period in 2024.
Abuse of position, trust and authority
Authorities began probing the Jackson Township woman when the school’s vice principal reported concerns about her relationship with the teen after another teacher allegedly saw her rubbing his neck and back, touching his leg, and flirting, prosecutors said.
The boy’s mother told investigators that she had become concerned about her son after his sister saw him sitting in the teacher’s car and noticed he was on his phone late into the night.
Havemann-Niedrach ultimately sent the teen 25,000 messages, including photos and videos that confirmed the sexual nature of their relationship.
O’Malley noted Haveman-Niedrach began showing up at his sporting events and bought him gifts, including a s*x toy, Asbury Park Press reported.
The boy — who allegedly bragged to his friends he was dating his teacher — eventually admitted to cops he had sex with the predatory suspect when his mom dragged him to the police station.
Haveman-Niedrach would threaten to report him to school administrators if he didn’t respond to her text messages, according to Asbury Park Press.
Student victim driven to thoughts of suicide after protracted campaign from teacher
The abuse caused the boy to consider killing himself before he revealed the relationship to his mom, she said.
The ordeal which traumatized the boy has made it extremely difficult for him to concentrate and keep up with his grades along with making friends, according to statements the victim and his mother made in court.
Addressing Havemann-Niedrach, State Superior Court Judge Jill G. O’Malley ordered the former teacher to never contact her victim or his family ever again, stating, ‘You are his trauma. You ruined him.’
Havemann-Niedrach must serve at least 85% of her sentence as part of a plea deal.
She’s also required to become a registered sex offender and her teaching certifications have been revoked.
