A scissor-wielding man slashed two people in apparently random attacks in NYC’s West Village Thursday morning — before fleeing to Midtown, where he was arrested, cops and law enforcement sources said.
The 48-year-old un-named assailant described as an emotionally disturbed person, targeted the victims on Hudson Street, at Christopher and Bleecker Streets around 9:30 a.m., Thursday morning, police and sources said.
He first approached a man and slashed him once in the neck with the scissors, the nypost reported, citing authorities.
The victim refused medical attention and took off, cops said.
The unhinged attacker then slashed another man in the right forearm with the same weapon, cops and sources said. The 24-year-old victim suffered a laceration wound to the arm
That victim also refused medical attention.
Sources familiar with the investigation stated the perpetrator apparently fled into a nearby E train and attempted to make his escape in Midtown, amny reported.
Eagle eyed NYPD Transit cops arrested the wanted man at West 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue, police said. It remained unclear if the suspect had a prior criminal history or mental health issues.
No known motive was immediately known or whether the man had sought to attack other individuals prior to his arrest.
Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
Charges against him were pending.
