Tennessee man Matthew Casto arrested after discovered living in an attic above 14 year old teen girl’s room. Man had been previously warned to stay away from girl.
A Tennessee man has been arrested after he was discovered living in an attic above a 14-year-old girl’s bedroom, coming out only when her parents went to sleep for the night.
Matthew Christopher Casto, 18 was taken into custody on June 2 after authorities received a call about an unknown intruder inside a residence off of Karen Lane in Mt Juliet. Notice of the ‘intruder’ came after the teen girl’s mother returned home to find Casto standing at the top of the stairs inside the family home.
The suspect reportedly fled into the girl’s room and locked the door after being spotted. As the mother screamed for the ‘intruder’ to leave, Casto crawled back into the attic according to scoopnashville.com.
Police said that Casto had been living in the home’s attic and would climb down through an opening and into the girl’s closet after she locked her bedroom door at night, once her parents went to sleep.
After police arrived to the home, the suspect refused to leave the attic, resulting in authorities pulling him out by force.
Casto’s arrest follows Mt. Juliet Police having previously warned the ‘intruder’ to stay away from the teen girl after she allegedly ran away from home on May 29. The girl, whom Scallywagandvagabond.com is not naming because of her age, was found safe in Nashville the next day and was returned home.
Authorities have not confirmed what the relationship is between the girl and the suspect.
Casto was charged with one misdemeanor count of aggravated criminal trespass and released from jail after posting $2k bail on June 6. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
