70 year old Florida man, Renaud Jerome arrested after impregnating 13 year old girl who lived with him at a Boca Rotan residence.
A 70-year-old Florida man has been arrested for allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old girl — after the victim showed up at the hospital saying she thought she was constipated.
Renaud Jerome, of Boca Raton, was charged multiple sexual abuse charges, including three counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of impregnating a child, the Miami Herald reported.
The teen arrived at the North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach around 11 a.m. Friday complaining of pain, according to a Boca Raton police report.
A medical exam determined that the girl was 14 weeks pregnant. Doctors in turn called the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen told investigators Jerome ‘would touch her and have sex with her’ and was the father of the child. During questioning the child appeared to indicate that she lived in the same home as her abuser. A report didn’t qualify the nature of their relationship or who else lived at the home.
Boca Raton police arrived and spoke to Jerome, who only speaks Creole, through a translator — with the elderly man claiming he sometimes cared for the girl.
‘Jerome stated that within the last couple of months he has had consensual vaginal intercourse with [redacted] three times,’ police said. ‘Jerome stated that [redacted] was interested in him more than he was interested in her and never forced her to do anything.’
The age of consent in Florida is 18 years old, according to Florida Statutes. People between the ages of 16 and 17 can give consent to a partner up to the age of 23. No one under the age of 16 legally can consent to sexual activity.
Jerome is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail, the Panama City News Herald reported. He’s required not to have any contact with the teen or anyone under 18.
