Jeremy David Cassin: Texas man charged with corpse abuse after wrapping his deceased mother’d body in tarp and leaving it on the front yard.
An East Texas man has been arrested after allegedly keeping his mother’s body wrapped in a tarpaulin in their front yard.
Jeremy David Cassin was charged with corpse abuse.
The 42 year old Henderson man if convicted could be sentenced to up to two years in state jail.
The son remained in custody at Rusk County Jail pending bond set at $25K.
Online jail records list no attorney for Cassin.
Rusk County Sheriff Jeff Price told via KYTX-TV that Cassin’s grandmother called deputies from Houston after Cassin told her that her daughter, 63-year-old Karen Cassin, had died.
Deputies said the son told them that he found his mother dead in bed March 18, so he wrapped her in the tarp and placed her under a group of pine trees.
It remained unclear why the son declined to make further provisions following his mother’s death- the cause and nature of yet to be publicly disclosed.
