Washington Heights, NY woman stabbed to death by ‘jealous’ husband who then jumps to his death from 6th floor. Victim told friends she feared for her life.
A NY woman has died after being stabbed to death by her estranged boyfriend who then jumped to his death from her sixth floor balcony. The apparent murder suicide follows the pair appearing to ‘look happy’ in a Christmas family photo.
Yuberkis Paulino, 50, was stabbed to death by Pablo Castro, 46, in her home in Manhattan’s Washington Heights on New Year’s Day.
Police were called to the scene after Castro’s body was spotted on a second-floor terrace, after which they discovered the remains of the man’s estranged girlfriend in her apartment.
The couple had recently separated with Castro having moved out of the apartment. Nevertheless photos indicated the pair reuniting over the Christmas period.
On Christmas Eve, the grandmother-of-one (and mother of four) shared a happy family photo of herself, Castro, her two daughters and her granddaughter all wearing matching ‘Santa’s Squad’ sweaters.
Yuberkis Paulino told friends she’d feared for her life:
Paulino had told friends she ‘feared for her life’ after fighting with her partner-of-five-years, and that if something happened to her, Castro would be to blame, New York Daily News reported.
‘Pablo killed her,’ Paulino’s former father-in-law through her first marriage told via the nydailynews.
‘(He was) a working man, but an extremely jealous man.’
‘She had told me if anything happens to her it will be Pablo,’ Joana Fernandez told via the nypost. ‘He was very jealous of her and always fighting.’
Police were called to the scene just before 8am yesterday when Castro was found dead with multiple allegedly self-inflicted stab-wounds on a second-floor balcony.
Realizing he had fallen from above, they then discovered blood on the balcony of the sixth-floor flat the man had shared with Paulino.
Local media reports that Castro stabbed his wife to death, then stabbed himself before jumping off the balcony. It remained unclear if there had been previous incidents of domestic violence at the household.
