Joyanna Harris: 8 year old Fresno, California girl after her mother forces her to crawl underneath freight train.

An 8-year-old girl has been killed after her mother made her crawl underneath the wheels of freight train in California .

Joyanna Harris‘s death came after being ordered to crawl under the train Monday in Fresno after her mother becoming concerned the family was going to miss their bus, the Fresno Bee reported.

The train had reportedly slowed and come to a stop in front of the family’s path around 6 p.m for about 12 seconds.

Witnesses told police the young girl was hesitant when the 44-year-old mom, Joy Frances Collins, forced her kids to crawl.

Joy Anna reportedly watched as her 9-year-old brother safely crossed to the other side, then followed him. As she tried to cross, the train lurched and the young girl became trapped, police said.

She was pulled about 500 feet and died under the wheels of traumatic injuries, WBAK reported.

During a Tuesday afternoon press conference, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said this was not the first time they went under a train to catch a bus.

The mom has since been charged on an array of charges including endangering/causing/permitting physical/mental injury to a child, trespassing on railroad property, and trespassing on railroad train.

ABC30 reports Collins had previously been contacted by the Department of Child Protective Services and her son is currently in their care.
