Stephany E. LaFountain a Fairbanks, Alaska mother is charged with the murder of both her children after googling two years apart, each time, how to murder them and get away with crime.

A Fairbanks, Alaska woman has been arrested after killing both her children, two years apart. The mother’s arrest followed investigators finding the mother having googled, ‘best ways to suffocate,’ and other morbid searches moments before the death of her second child.

The Anchorage Daily News reported Stephany E. LaFountain, 23 being accused of killing her 13-month-old daughter on November 20 last year, and her four-month-old child in on September 15, 2015.

Both babies were otherwise healthy, but had stopped breathing when LaFountain called for help on November 20. The girl died in hospital four days later.

The child who died in November was shown to have died from complications of anoxia, which is a lack of oxygen to the brain.

The death of her first child, who she had during a previous relationship, was not investigated as a potential murder until the death of her second.

When police began to investigate the death of her second child, forensic teams found a series of suspicious searches entered into the woman’s computer about an hour before the 911 call, including: ‘Ways to kill human with no proof’, ‘Drowning and Forensics’, and ‘How to: Commit the Perfect Murder’.

LaFountain’s first child’s cause of death is inconclusive, but matches up with a suffocation death, while her second died from a lack of oxygen to the brain.

Stephany E. LaFountain press conference: ‘…the evil that exists, that’s out there.’

Come Wednesday, LaFountain was arrested and taken to Fairbanks correctional center. The woman was scheduled to make her first court appearance on Friday.

During a press conference, Fairbanks Police Chief Eric Jewkes said the murders should serve to remind everyone of the ‘evil’ that lurks in all communities.

‘Just take 10 seconds and think about a mother killing both her children, over two years (in) completely isolated events,‘ he said.

‘And what that means and what happens sometimes in our community — and sometimes the evil that exists, that’s out there.’

While noting of the first child’s murder, ‘We have a family of a baby that has suffered in obscurity in silence that no one knew about’.

Adding, ‘They shouldered the grieving process alone and hopefully we’ll be able to bring some closure to them.’

Not immediately understood is what motivated LaFountain killing not just one child on one occasion, but her second child on a second occasion…
