What led to Scott Bowman a Jacksonville father being shot dead at the family home after answering an ad for a free puppy?
Christopher Scott Bowman a 39 year old Jacksonville, Florida father has been shot dead after responding to a Facebook ad for a puppy. The man’s death came upon welcoming an expectant houseguest into the family home.
At the time, Bowman and his fiance, Chelsea had responded to a post by a dog owner who said he was giving away the animal he found.
The couple had offered to go pick the pet up only for the unidentified poster insisting on coming to their home last Wednesday evening.
A report via the Action News Jacksonville told of the couple inviting the man in for a drink, with the houseguest taking off his shoes and refusing overtures to leave.
Explained Chelsea, ‘The dude takes his shoes off and he stays and he doesn’t leave,’
Adding, ‘And it’s making everybody uncomfortable.’
From there, Chelsea, who had been formerly married to Bowman and had agreed to remarry despite previous instances of domestic battery against her, told of the two men beginning to fight. It was at this moment the stranger pulled out a gun.
‘He gets very, very volatile, very, very drunk,’ told the fiance. ‘(Scott) goes to use the bathroom and he waits for him. He comes out, and he grabs him and he starts beating him.’
Bowman according to the fiance started to run before the attacker shot him in front of his screaming children, aged, 8 and 4.
The youngest child ran to a neighbor’s home for help, screaming, ‘you shot my dad!’
Told Chelsea, ‘He’s a homicidal maniac. It was a brutal, cold-blooded murder in front of my children and my self’.
The houseguest was shortly taken taken into custody with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office declining to publicly identify the alleged gunman. To date no charges have been laid against the houseguest as police continue to ‘actively’ investigate.
Told Chelsea Bowman, ‘I miss him. I just want him back,’
Adding, ‘I keep thinking it’s a horrible dream.’
