Famed black actor, Thomas Mikal Ford continues to fight for his life despite earlier claims on Wednesday of passing away. Survival prospects looking very dim.
Fans are bracing themselves for what seems like the inevitable after news that actor Thomas Mikal Ford also known as Tommy Ford is fighting for his life in hospital after suffering an aneurysm in his abdomen.
A report via TMZ quotes the actor’s wife, Gina who said her husband, best known for portraying Tommy Strawn on the 1990’s sitcom, ‘Martin’ is on life support at an Atlantic facility.
That said, medics don’t believe the actor has too much of a chance of surviving, with concerns that Thomas Mikal Ford may even fail to make it through to the end of Wednesday.
***Update: Tommy Ford is reported to have passed away late Wednesday afternoon at the age of 54, with a source telling PEOPLE: ‘They were trying to hold on until everybody got there, but it couldn’t happen.’
A report via vibe tells of Ford, 52 being taken to the hospital on Sunday, with the actor’s condition only worsening since his arrival.
Causing disconcert earlier in the day, was a tweet that fellow actor and friend, Anthony Anderson posted in which the actor inaccurately told of Ford passing away.
Anderson later retracted that statement saying, ‘I was given misinformation about our friend. That’s why the tweet was removed. We are all still praying for Tommy. He needs us even more.’

Ford earned a considerable following for his performance as the sensible best friend of the main character Martin, played by Martin Lawrence, on the beloved sitcom.
The actor has also starred on other popular programs including “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “New York Undercover” and has written a series of children’s books endorsing the importance of avoiding drugs and violence.
Yet to be necessarily understood is what caused Thomas Mikal Ford to suffer an aneurysm and to what degree the actor’s health may have been compromised in recent times.
In the weeks previous, Thomas Ford had posted on Instagram about having knee replacement surgery. A few days before he was hospitalized in the aftermath of the surgery, a report via heavy noted Ford writing on social media, ‘Working really hard in physical therapy! My progress is amazing! Thank you for all of your prayers and words of encouragement! I’m excited about getting back to work!’
