Elvia Gonzalez McFarland teacher charged having sex with minor high school student after tutoring teen. Arrested after solicitous texts discovered.
A married California teacher alleged of having (unprotected) sex with a student solicited the teen with inviting texts — including one that said ‘I can’t breathe with you,’ according to court documents.
Elvia Gonzalez, a 40-year-old math teacher at McFarland High School, revealed her apparent devotion to the student in another message, KGET reports, citing court documents released Tuesday.
‘I’m only yours,’ Gonzalez wrote.
The teen told police he first started talking with Gonzalez in August when she offered to tutor him. They later exchanged numbers and started meeting up outside of school, the victim said.
The relationship then turned physical as Gonzalez and the minor began having sex in the teacher’s car after she picked him up. Their last encounter — some of which were unprotected — was just a week before her arrest on Oct. 12, according to the teen.
The pair also showered together at Gonzalez’s home when her children weren’t there, the boy told investigators.
McFarland math teacher instructed male victim to erase messages:
The alleged trysts were uncovered when school staffers found a text on the teen’s phone from someone named ‘Elvia’ asking if the student wanted to get breakfast with her. The student then confessed that Gonzalez had sent him the message and allowed the school’s principal to view the messages, according to the court documents.
Officials also said that some the texts the boy had received were missing because Gonzalez reportedly told the student on several occasions to delete them.
Gonzalez, who has been placed on administrative leave, is facing charges of unlawful sexual intercourse and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense.
‘This information is both shocking and disturbing for our community,’ McFarland Unified School District Superintendent Aaron Resendez wrote parents in a letter.
But there’s more.
Resendez also revealed a personal connection to Gonzalez, saying the accused teacher is related to him.
‘That is why I have directed the district’s legal counsel to assume the lead role in conducting a thorough, independent investigation to gather all of the facts,’ Resendez’s letter continued.
Gonzalez is the sister-in-law of Resendez’s wife, KERO reported.
Not immediately clear is what led to the female educator abusing her position of trust, authority and power and subjugate her male victim.
Gonzalez is scheduled to be in court on November 20.
