Shauna Bishop Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested having sex with teen boy. Hands herself in following investigation that began in May.
A California woman who works as a sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for allegedly having sex with with a 16-year-old boy.
Shauna Bishop, 44, of Citrus Heights turned herself in to police in Folsom on Thursday according to a Folsom Police Dept notice on Facebook. She was released from custody after her arrest — but is scheduled to appear in court next week and faces five felony charges, the Sacramento Bee reported.
‘After a thorough investigation, detectives found evidence that Bishop had intercourse with a 16-year-old victim,’ police said in the above news release.
Investigators keyed on Bishop in May and police later issued a warrant for her arrest.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy worked with at risk kids and teens.
Bishop, a five-year veteran of the Sacramento County sheriff’s office, has been on paid leave since the investigation began.
Bishop was working as a patrol deputy and volunteered with the Sheriff’s Activities League working with at-risk kids and teens.
“I know there have been some concerns of her involvement in the youth programs through the sheriff’s department and what we are certain of is that this does not correlate with that whatsoever,’ Folsom Police Detective Melanie Catanio told FOX40.
She did not meet the teen through her work and the alleged sex acts happened while she was off-duty, authorities said.
The female cop faces charges of unlawful intercourse with a minor, oral copulation with a minor and molesting a child, police said.
It was unclear if Bishop has retained a lawyer or whether her victim has been offered counseling.
