Pennsylvania teen, Shian Mengini arrested for making false report after claiming she’d been sexually assaulted by woman. Was bored and mad with her police officer husband.
A Delco, Pennsylvania teenager has been accused of fabricating claims that she was sexually assaulted by a woman because she was bored and mad with her police officer husband.
Shian Skylar Mengini, 18, following her arrest was charged with making a false report by the Delaware County District Attorney‘s office on Thursday – cbslocalphiladelphia reported.
Prosecutors say Mengini went to the police station in Upland where her husband Stephen Mengini, 28, was an officer on April 20 where she claimed having been sexually assaulted at the couple’s home by a woman she’d met online.
She was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, where she was interviewed by county detectives after Upland police recused themselves from the investigation due to her husband’s standing in the department.
Mengini claimed that the woman she met online, who has not been named, came to her home and began kissing her, at which point she locked herself in the bathroom and told the woman she was married.
‘Mengini said when she unlocked the bathroom door, the woman entered the bathroom and undressed Mengini, touching her in a sexual way, thereafter following her into the bedroom,’ according to the District Attorney’s office.
At some point during the alleged assault Mengini ran out of the house and fled to the police station to report it.
But there’s more.
Shian Mengini admits sending fake threatening text messages to herself.
Five days later Mengini’s police officer husband contacted county detectives to say his wife claiming having received threatening text messages from the other woman’s husband.
When interviewed by investigators, Mengini allegedly confessed to sending those threats to herself from fake phone numbers the delcotimes reported.
The woman also allegedly admitted that the previously reported sexual encounter was consensual and said she made the assault story up because she was mad at her husband and had nothing else to do because she didn’t have any friends nearby.
Stephen Mengini, 28, resigned from the police department that same day without explanation.
Mengini was arraigned on Wednesday and released after posting $15,000 bail. She will return for a preliminary hearing on May 16.
‘In Delaware County, we take any report of assault seriously,’ District Attorney Katayoun Copeland said in a statement.
‘The fact that Shian Mengini fabricated this serious allegation because she was angry with her husband and bored is both criminal and inexcusable.’
Copeland commended the Upland Police Department for their efforts ‘to determine the truth in this matter.’
