Dawn Proffitt Diimmler confesses to her victim’s mother:
Diimmler later confessed to district officials, admitting that she had an inappropriate relationship with the 19-year-old student and that she apologized to his mother in a voicemail.
The district’s superintendent later cited the ‘inappropriate relationship,’ as well as Diimmler’s untruthfulness about the allegations and her efforts to reach out to the teen’s mother, in her termination letter.
‘I have listened to those recordings, in which you admit to [the student’s mother] that you are in love with her son, and in which you apologize to [her] for your inappropriate relationship with him,’ Superintendent William James Jr. wrote.
Diimmler, whose attorney had previously cited her ‘glowing performance reviews’ at the school, had worked for the district since 2012, ColaDaily.com reports.
School employees in the Palmetto State are barred from having sexual relationships with students regardless of their age. If convicted of sexual battery with a student in Lexington County, she faces up to five years in prison.
