Dawn Diimmler South Carolina assistant school principal charged with sexual battery charges after admitting to having sex with a teen student.
Dawn Diimmler a married South Carolina assistant school principal and mother of three has been arrested after allegedly having sex with a teen male student.
The teacher, since fired from Airport High School, admitted to having a relationship with a 19-year-old male while apologizing to the teen’s mother in a voicemail, where Diimler said she was in love with her victim reported The State.
The assistant principal’s arrest follows after the 44-year-old administrator allegedly having sex with the teen twice at school and once at a hotel last year.
School employees in South Carolina are forbidden from having sex with a student enrolled at the school regardless of their age according to state laws.
Diimmler was arrested Saturday on sexual battery charges for the alleged relationship with the student while employed in the Lexington County Two School District.
She appeared Monday in Lexington County court with bond set at $30,000.
Dawn Diimmler South Carolina assistant school principal, ‘I’m now in love with your teen son’.
In a Jan 31. letter, school officials said they were aware of the incriminating voicemail message the teacher left for the victim’s mother and informed her of the school board’s recommendation to fire her.
‘I have listened to those recordings, in which you admit to [the student’s mother] that you are in love with her son, and in which you apologize to [her] for your inappropriate relationship with him,’ Superintendent William James Jr. said, according to The State.
Her employment was officially terminated Feb. 12, school officials said. The educator had been with the school district since 2012.
Prior to her termination, Diimmler had worked in education since 1995.
During Monday’s proceedings, Diimmler’s lawyer insisted that the educator was a respected educator at the school.
‘She has always had glowing performance reviews,’ attorney Debbie Barbier said. ‘She has abundant support of family and friends.’
To date it remains unclear as to what led to the female educator abusing her position of trust, authority and position of power to sexually prey on her victim….an ongoing and unrelenting occurrence amongst many female school teachers.
