What led to Nancy Leigh Ann Brann a Waldoboro, Maine Christian school teacher, and mother of seven, sexually assaulting a teen male student?
Nancy Leigh Ann Brann a 43 year old former Christian school teacher in Maine has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a less than 14 year old male student.
The woman’s arrest comes after the married woman turned herself in at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, December 21 told the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in a press release.
The alleged offenses reported Radio 9 WCME took place during the fall of 2016 when Brann was a teacher at the Coastal Christian School in Waldoboro, located in central Maine.
‘There is no information the school administration had any knowledge of these alleged offenses prior to being notified by investigators,’ said the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities say the victim was a student under the age of 14 at the time of the events but the student’s gender was not disclosed. Social media suggested the victim was a male student.
Nancy Brann was dismissed by the private Evangelical school shortly after the offenses for unrelated issues.
There is currently no information that suggests she is employed at another school.
Of note, the ex-teacher, from Windsor, is married and is the mother of seven children reported the pressherald.
Brann has since been charged with with one count of Class A gross sexual assault and one count of Class C unlawful sexual contact.
The former is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine and the latter is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
She is currently being held on $10,000 bail, unsecured, with the conditions that she not have contact with the victim, not return to Coastal Christian School and have no contact with children under the age of 16.
To date authorities have yet to say what led to the female teacher abuse her position of authority, trust and power to sexually prey on her male victim- a trend that sees little signs of abating as yet more and more female educators continue to transgress.
