Kyle Damato-Kushel pleads guilty: A former Connecticut middle school teacher’s aide admits to having a relationship with teen student.
Kyle Damato-Kushel a 48 year old Bridgeport, Connecticut teacher’s aide has pled guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.
The Connecticut Post reported the former Connecticut middle school teacher’s aide pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child as the case was being prepared for trial.
The woman now faces up to 18 months in prison at her sentencing on March 14. Her lawyer said in court the sentence was ‘an agreed recommendation,’ but refused comment outside of court.
The ‘deal’ requires Damato-Kushel having to register as a sex offender.
Damato-Kushel, a mother of three previously turned down a plea deal that would have sent her to prison for up to four years.
Damato-Kushel worked at Wooster Middle School in Stratford. She was arrested in 2015 when her husband discovered the relationship.
According to previous reports, the teacher’s illicit tryst was found out when her husband woke up to hear voices inside the family unit, leading to the man calling cops after believing an ‘intruder’ had entered the family dwelling.
The victim’s attorney says his client is satisfied with the plea deal.
Yet to be necessarily understood is what led to the teacher abusing her position of trust, authority and position of power as she sexually preyed on her teen male victim. The woman’s admission follows that of a rising trend of US female teachers exploiting teen boys.
