What led to Darci L. Lake an Ohio substitute teacher allegedly sexually preying on two male students? Is fired from temp agency which contracted her out.
Darci L. Lake a 23 year old Ohio substitute teacher has denied having had sex with two students at her place of employment.
Appearing at Muskingum County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday the female teacher pled not guilty to nine counts of sexual battery against two male students, aged 16 and 14.
The former full-time substitute teacher, who was 22-years-old when the alleged offenses began, faces a maximum potential of five years in prison for each of the nine counts, reported the Times Recorder.
Both victims were students – one was 16-years-old and turned 17, and the other was 14-years-old and turned 15.
Lake, who is a 2012 graduate of Maysville High School , was arrested on December 21 on allegations of having a sexual relationship with the two male students.
Seven of the nine counts listed in her indictment occurred between February 1, 2017 and November 1, 2017.
The other two counts occurred between March 1, 2017, and August 31, 2017.
Common Pleas Judge Mark Fleegle continued her bond at $200,000.
In a letter, Maysville Superintendent Ruth Zitnik said Lake was hired through Renhill Group, a company that staffs districts with substitute teachers throughout the state.
Of note, Lake is no longer contracted with Maysville after Renhill president, Barrie Howell, wrote in an email that she had been dismissed from the company.
No other information, including a linkedn profile on the teacher existed on the web.
To date authorities have declined to say what led to the female teacher sexually preying on her male victims, where she abused her position of trust, authority and power. The arraignment follows a growing trend of female teachers exploiting their male victims.
