How Brittany Sharp became Florida’s drunk I-75 driver poster girl: Three Good Samaritans decide to take matters into their own hands.
Also making her way on the tabloid podium is Florida’s Brittany Sharp, 25, who in the space of 24 hours has become the de-facto poster child of errant drunk driving and the Good Samaritans who come to their aid.
Matters got into a hazy diatribe as three women traveling in an automobile behind our collective hero noticed Sharp driving in a manner that suggested she wasn’t all there.
This being the modern cut and paste, the women since identified as Suzzette Williams, Angelina Powell, and Billie Jean BeeBee began following Sharp of Cape Coral, filming the ensuing nine minutes as it played out, before rear ending her in a ‘desperate’ bid to stop her.
Footage showed the women tailgating Sharp as she travels in a white Chevrolet Cavalier, weaving between lanes and hitting curbs while coming close to hitting other cars along the I-75, Fort Myers.
The above continued for nine minutes, with one of the three women on the phone with 911, the other filming the amazing made for social media episode, posting it live on Facebook Live (where everything and anything is fair game and where one can become a social media hero), while the third passenger hung on for dear life.
Fearing the worse, (or perhaps looking for a suitable video climax) the driver following Sharp eventually overtakes Sharp and slams on the brakes, forcing Sharp in turn to slam into their vehicle.
Action, replay. Got ya!
Brittany Sharp: a history of mishap?
From there other vehicles are seen pulling over to block Sharp in the event the mother of two sought a get away before Florida High Patrol troopers arrived.
Our collective hero is finally observed up close as she gets out of her vehicle and hunches over in a delicious heap of drunk mess.
Something isn’t quite working out in Brittany Sharp’s life to be sure.
Upon her arrest, Sharp was taken to nearby Lee Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries before being ‘escorted’ to Lee County Jail.
Sharp was charged with driving under the influence (with some commentators speculating Sharp was coming off a heroin fix), driving with a suspended license and careless driving.
She is scheduled to appear in court on September 18.
Jail logs cited by news-press indicate Sharp being arrested twice this year on charges including larceny and dealing in stolen property.
Police have since praised the three women for calling 911 but did not recommend other drivers taking matters into their own hands to stop impaired drivers. Unless of course one is in the aspirational business of being their own social media hero…
Welcome to a brave new America ….
