An investigation of the man’s apartment led to police also coming across human bones in bin bans on his apartment balcony along with canisters of caustic soda and hydrochloric acid.
Six kilos of human flesh retrieved from the bones have been DNA matched with the victim, Francia Ruth Ibarra.
Her clothes were found hidden in a bag inside the apartment.
A report via the dailymail tells of the pair having initially met through Tinder and had then met several times over the few months before Ibarra disappeared on December 3.
She was last seen leaving home for the language centre at the University of Guanajuato.
Notice of the woman’s disappearance came after failing to show up at a pre-arranged rendezvous with a friend at a local cinema.
Her friends at the University of Guanajuato backtracked her social media postings and found she’d been dating Boncanegra, a former student.
She had never introduced him to them and he reportedly avoided meeting her friends and family.
Bocanegra reportedly killed her after she refused to have sex with him and dissolved her body to make it look like she had run away.
Police tracked him to Mexico City where he was arrested.
