Elizabeth Ruiz sex tape: Will a judge rule that a woman’s resolve to release an intimate film unless she’s paid $2.5 million is tantamount to extortion?
Denver Broncos star Von Miller has found himself in an alleged extortion plot after a woman by the name of Elizabeth Ruiz has threatened to release a sex tape starring the linebacker and herself unless he pays her off $2.5 million.
Responding to the ‘blackmail’, Von Miller is seeking to prevent Ruiz a Cuban born aspiring social media star/stripper/model/aspiring actress (etc) from making the alleged tape go public after she filmed them having sex in private on her mobile phone.
Although referred to as ‘Doe’ in the documents, media outlets have reported the plaintiff is the Super Bowl MVP.
The sex tape was recorded while Miller was on vacation in Cancun, Mexico in June accompanied by a few male friends, Ruiz and several other women.
The ‘incident’ comes after the Dallas, Texas native rented out an 11,500-square-foot beachfront luxurious home for the group to stay in.
Photos shared to social media show Ruiz, Miller and others on the trip enjoying the vacation, as they rode jet skis, lounged poolside, and parasailing.
Complicating matters is when Ruiz and Miller engaged in sex, Von Miller did so knowing that Ruiz was filming.
At the time the star linebacker requested that Ruiz keep the video private and not release it.
Later on, he asked Ruiz to delete the video with the woman replying ‘Gotcha’ to his request.
A judge must now decide whether Elizabeth Ruiz is prohibited from releasing the sex tape and whether the ‘fee’ to preempt its release and stay private amounts to extortion?
Filed court papers reveal that the NFL player’s representatives being contacted in September with lawyers saying that Elizabeth Ruiz told them she wanted to release the sex tape to become ‘the next Kim Kardashian.’
Don’t we all…?
Ruiz notes a report via the dailymail first tried to sell the sex tape to TMZ and a ‘sex tape broker’, with Miller petitioning an LA judge to bar her from ‘selling or commercially exploiting the tape’ last week.
A judge put a temporary restraining order in place to preventing Ruiz from making copies, releasing or distributing the tape, the NY Daily News reports.
The NFL player reportedly fears that if the tape is released, it will damage his appeal to ‘many different people from virtually all walks of life including families and children.’
Responding to the ‘shake down’ Von Miller lawyers said Ruiz ‘desperately craves fame and fortune,’ and that she is ‘willing to settle for fortune if she could not also achieve fame.’
The linebacker’s lawyer, Andrew Kim, added that the release of the tape featuring the ‘most intimate of physical acts between a man and woman’ would damage his client’s commercial appeal.
The alleged Elizabeth Ruiz sex tape comes as Von Miller has several promotional deals with companies including Beats by Dre, Best Buy, and Old Spice.
Filed court documents describe the plaintiff as ‘one of the most talented people at his craft in the U.S. and the world’.
The 27-year-old has one of the top-selling NFL jerseys and was slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards back in July.
The case comes after the Denver Broncos back in July signed Miller to a six-year deal for $114.5 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history based on guaranteed money.
He signed the lucrative deal five months after he dominated Super Bowl 50, which his team beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10.
In addition, Miller also appeared on ABC‘s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ but was eliminated from the show after five episodes.
One of his most memorable dances was when he sported a white jumpsuit to channel the Vegas-era Elvis Presley while dancing to ‘A Little Less Conversation’.
Of particular note, during an August 2015 interview that focused on her sex life, Ruiz was asked, ‘Has sex ever played a part in your career?’ To which the model/stripper replied, ‘Never.’
