What led to Laura Rich substitute teacher sexually preying on two students? Alleged to have indulged in physical tryst at her home two separate occasions.
Laura Rich a 38 year old substitute teacher from Georgia has been arrested and charged with having sex with two teen students at her Acworth home last year.
The woman’s arrest comes after being taken into custody Friday on two counts of sexual assault by a teacher.
According to investigators, Rich who had been employed as a sub teacher at Ace Academy in Canton until last month had an illicit tryst with a 16 year old student in early 2015.
Later that year, according to police, Rich had another sexual encounter with an 18-year-old student at her home, reported Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Authorities declined to publicly disclose the genders of the students involved and what prodded an investigation taking place.
Matters came to a head after Cherokee County School District notified police about the alleged relationships, leading into investigation.
According to School district spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby, Laura Rich’s last day as a teacher was August 19, after which she had been barred from working as a substitute teacher in Cherokee County.
‘Our School District has zero tolerance for inappropriate relationships between students and any adults serving in any capacity in our schools,’ Jacoby said in a statement.
Pursuant to being booked at Cherokee County Detention Center on Friday, Laura Rich was released the same day after posting $22, 400 bond.
Not necessarily understood is what led to the teacher abusing her trust and position of authority when she sexually preyed on her victims.
