Sara Domres English teacher pleads guilty to sexually assaulting teen student. Had maintained innocence when first charged in April.
Sara Domres a former 28 year old New West Berlin, Wisconsin, High school teacher has pled guilty to sexually assaulting a 16 year old student.
The English teacher’s admission comes after previously maintaining she had only ‘hugged’ her teen victim.
A report via fox6 tells of Sara Domres facing two counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff, both felony charges. The woman’s admission came on Thursday, August 4th.
Domres was criminally charged in April. Sentencing will take place on September 30th.
According to court documents, the relationship between Domres and the 16-year-old male student began during the 2014-2015 school year. A criminal complaint states that the victim was in an English class taught by Domres, where the two ‘became friends and began to text each other a lot.’
Incriminating texts included the pair referring to each other as ‘baby boo.’ Other texts included the English teacher messaging, ‘I love you!’— as well as ‘You’re extremely attractive to me!!!’
Read another transaction: ‘We will have to plan something soon. I want a night again. Xoxo.’ ‘Yes! Definitely soon. I really want another night with you too baby boo!’ ‘I want to do you (smiley face symbol) NOW!!’
The texts had gone on while Domres had been planning to marry her then fiance.
According to court documents, the two had physical intimacy at the Park and Ride on Moorland Road in New Berlin in July 2015 as well as at the Motel 6 off of Bluemound Road in the Town of Brookfield sometime during the 2015-2016 school year.
The later transgression took place ‘on the same day (her husband) had his bachelor party.’
Despite initially denying the intimacies, investigators were able to confirm the victim’s phone had been connected to the hotel’s WiFi with the English teacher having ‘paid cash’ for the room.
But it gets better.
So lovesick was the teacher, Domres went so far as to send her victim selfies while on her honeymoon. Things eventually came to a head after Sara Domres’ husband caught his wife and her victim hanging out in the parking lot of a New Berlin restaurant.
In total, investigators ‘determined that between May 14, 2015 and January 6, 2016, the victim sent the defendant approximately 619 text messages. Between March 29, 2015 and January 15, 2016, the defendant sent the victim approximately 555 text messages.’
Officials with the School District of New Berlin said they learned of the allegations against Domres on January 15th, 2016. She was immediately placed on administrative leave. After an internal investigation by the School District of New Berlin, Domres was fired.
In a statement, New Berlin School District Superintendent Joe Garza called the allegations ‘troubling, disappointing and incomprehensible.’
Adding: ‘Ensuring our schools are the safe and secure learning environments our families and communities expect is one of our chief goals and top priorities.’
‘We could never have expected such a flagrant disregard for not only our own expectations, but society’s expectations as well. Background checks cannot always predict it. That being said, we will continue to look at our hiring and training practices and ways to improve.’
At the time of her initial arraignment, Domres’ husband appeared with his new wife in court where his newly wife insisted on her innocence in April.
However, it was not immediately clear if they remain together after her guilty plea.
During her arraignment, Domres declined to offer reasons why she chose to sexually prey on her victim along with abusing her position of trust and authority.
