Jessica Mishali a married Florida defense lawyer has been barred from five prisons in Broward County after the 35 year old mother of one was caught in the alleged throes of passion with convicted felon, Ysreal Granda, 26.
The ban on the attorney comes after a deputy claims to have caught the woman bent over a table having sex with an inmate she had come to visit on Wednesday.
According to a report via the sunsentinel, upon becoming aware that someone else was in the main area, Jessica Mishali is alleged to have jumped back into her seat and ‘readjusted her skirt.’
Of note, Mishali’s client is being held behind bars on four counts of attempted murder, after having served a majority sentence of trying to kill two other people.
Despite the DA’s office declining to press charges against the defense attorney, the Florida Bar has now told of launching an investigation.
Responding to the allegations of impropriety, the woman’s lawyer, Tarlika Navarro insisted that their client did not do anything wrong, calling the allegations against her as ‘false’.
Offered Veda Coleman-Wright, a spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff’s Office which runs the jails:
‘It’s two consenting adults. Detention deputies, they’re in a position of authority and supervision, so the case would be very different if the inmate was having intimate relations with a detention deputy.‘
The office went on to say it wasn’t necessarily clear if any criminal offense was committed between the two ‘consenting‘ adults.
The alleged incident has since led to a memo with Mishali’s photo being posted at all jail scanners and master controls, stating: ‘Jessica Mishali David is prohibited from entering any Broward Sheriff’s Office facility or onto any BSO property for any reason either personal or professional until further notice.’
The ban comes at a time when Jessica Mishali only recently begun working in a private practice.
She represented clients that the public defender could not because of conflicts of interest.
Nevertheless her tenure would be terminated on January 4 after alleged ‘misconduct in the performance of her duties’.
That said, online records reveal the attorney not being disciplined previously.
Mishali’s former boss, Broward Public Defender Howard Finkelstein insisted the attorney did a very good job during her tenure and was shocked by the revelations..
‘I can’t really wrap my mind around it. Love can make people do crazy things. And this is a crazy thing,’ Finkelstein told.
Pending an outcome of an investigation, Mishali faces the potential of now losing her law license.
