Dan Maurer a 39 year old Michigan man successfully removed a 100 pound scrotum growth during a 14 hour surgery last month and in a new feature he has told he is once again looking forward to having sex again after a 7 year absence…
Maurer suffers from a condition known as scrotal lymphedema. When he noticed his sac swelling he contacted his doctors, who instructed Mauer to lose weight, which didn’t work. Then, he saw the story of Wesley Warren Jr.—also known as The Man With the 132-lb. Scrotum—on TLC, and everything changed.
Maurer and his family ran a successful fundraiser to pay for the operation, and after a 14-hour procedure, he emerged 150 pounds lighter and free of the enormous growth (the surgery also removed excess fat). A month later, he’s still struggling to walk, but he seems hopeful.
‘It’s going to be a learning curve,’ he told ABC after the surgery. ‘And if you don’t have a good heart going into it, you’re never going to achieve anything.’
And although Dan Maurer is still recuperating in hospital, there are some challenges ahead.
Offers Dan’s mother, Connie Mauer: ‘He carried that growth around so long and they’re having trouble with his leg being able to support him.’
That said, Dan Maurer is undergoing physical therapy to learn how to walk again and he is expected home to Michigan in the middle of October.
Yet despite all the pain, discomfort and rehabilitation (and joy that crowdsourcing was able to alleviate Dan’s condition he would never have been able to afford on his own) there are a few bright spots on the horizon.
Explains the nydailynews: One thing he’s excited to do once the procedure is all said and done: Have sex with Mindy for the first time in seven years. He also looks forward to traveling and jet-skiing. Because of his condition, he hasn’t been able to take part in activities that require him to straddle something.
Something that we imagine Dan Maurer must be giddily anticipating as he gets back to living life.
