A Utah woman, Meloney Selleneit has pled guilty to soliciting her husband to shoot their next door neighbor because she was convinced that he had been raping her telepathically for years.
Meloney, 53 went on to tell the court how she went on to illegally acquire a gun for her husband, 55 year old Michael Selleneit so he could avenge her rape at the hands of 41 year old Tony Pierce who for his troubles was shot twice in the back whilst working in the backyard on November 10, 2011.
Making matters increasingly ominous was Meloney’s assertion that the rape occurred cause Tony Pierce was controlling her mind via crack cocaine. Yes kids the good shit has all sorts of potent wonders up its sleeve…
Understandably Meloney went on to tell the court her ass was mentally ill but nevertheless a judge in August found her to be competent (do you think kids?) to stand trial even though she and her husband had been mandated to spend time at a state hospital to receive mental treatment.
The couple’s mental competency has been a point of repeated contention with the court deciding in the end that Meloney’s husband was indeed competent to stand trial because the state statute requires only that a defendant be able to understand the charges against him and assist in his defense.
For his efforts Michael Selleneit was sentenced in May to serve two consecutive one-to-15 years terms at the Utah State Prison after pleading guilty but mentally ill to attempted manslaughter and use of a firearm by a restricted person.
2nd Districet Judge Thomas Kay went on to rule that Michael Selleneit would be confined to a state hospital until doctors determine he no longer needs treatment. At that time, he would be taken to the prison.
Meloney’s sentencing has been postponed for October 31. Not surprisingly she has been sequestrated a to state hospital for ongoing mental evaluation until her sentence is passed.
