One can only wonder what were they thinking but perhaps an attempt to come to terms of one recent case may unearth the impetus for why a 22 year old mother allowed a 49 year old man, Kenneth Kyle, a professor, to rape her 5 year old daughter. A series of rape that she also often facilitated and participated in…
dailymail.co.uk: A woman who admitting allowing her five-month-old daughter to be raped by a man she met online was handed down two consecutive life sentences without probation today.
Tessa L. Vanvlerah, 22, from St Louis, was charged with first-degree statutory rape and sodomy, as well as incest and child pornography.
Her attorneys failed to convince a judge that she should get probation because she suffers from a psychological disorder.
Psychological disorder? Is that just reaching at the surface? What normal mother would allow a facilitation of the abuse (never mind a sexual one) of their child? Was Ms Vanvlerah exposed to such behavior as a youth herself, was this her way of punishing the child or more straight to the point, herself for some perceived wrong and even more precociously how does an individual who has a phd (that is to attain status as a professor) submit themselves to behaving on such a virile repulsive way? Or does education have nothing to do with this? Is this simply a situation of the maniacal and the absurd crossing paths at the expense of a 5 month of old baby girl?
Dr Brooke Kraushaar said a dependent-personality disorder caused Vanvlerah to participate in the sexual fantasies of Kenneth M. Kyle, 49, a college professor from California, even though she knew sex acts involving her then-five-month-old daughter were wrong.
Sexual fantasies that included children? Perhaps as repugnant as most of us would deem such fantasies, would it have not been easier for Kyle to have kept his desires as just that- fantasies? Violent acts that remained strictly in his mind? Wasn’t he aware of all people that he was crossing something beyond taboo? Then again, perhaps that may have been the allure and instigation of his behavior….
At the time of his arrest, investigators had come across hundreds of images of child porn on his computer. It is said that the pair often had sex at his abode not only in the presence of the girl but forcing her to participate as well, if one is even able to imagine that. In fact so perverse was Ms Vanvlerah’s state of mind, she even allowed Kyle to choke, burn and urinate on her as a way to make sure he never left her. Could one wonder that this also involved being ambushed to subjecting her daughter to the desires of the 49 year old professor in order to stay in his good graces?
But it seems Ms Vanvlerah may have not been the victim of forced behavior entirely, that she may have also instigated incriminating behavior as well…
“…prosecutors said Vanvlerah exercised free will when she started communicating online with Kyle and sharing child pornography.
and this too:
They also said she spoke with another man who sent her child pornography and invited him to also come and have sex with her infant daughter.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kathi Alizadeh also pointed out that Vanvlerah willingly posed for pictures with Kyle and her daughter.
Perhaps an indication of Ms Vanvlerah’s complicity in the rape of her daughter comes with the release of the following information:
nydailynews: In 2008, when Vanvlerah was 18, a woman obtained a court order of protection against her, accusing her of seducing and having sex with the woman’s 16-year-old autistic son. Alizadeh said it resulted in Vanvlerah’s pregnancy.
Could this ill timed pregnancy resulted in Ms Vanvlerah seeking to reprimand herself and or the child? Was this her way of offsetting the nuisance of an ‘inconvenient’ pregnancy or rather the continued subjugation of a child that until she was removed from her mother’s custody never stood a chance?
At present one can only wonder to what degree the baby girl will be impacted by the series of events and her state of mind when she eventually grows up to fully absorb the significance of what she has been forced to endure.
Kyle for his part was sentenced to 37 and a half years after having plead guilty of abusing the child on a number of occasions in 2009.
