US Porn Industry Halts Production After Reports of HIV Infection

For anyone who can find the time to stop fapping long enough to notice, it probably won’t bode well for the online sector of the economy that an HIV crisis could well lead to a shortage of skinflicks coming out of California’s “Porn Valley.”

Yesterday, when a Cali clinic frequented by porno stars and starlets confirmed a potentially deadly HIV diagnosis, “more than half a dozen” of the industry’s hottest pornographers, including Vivid, the celebrity sex-tape slinging powerhouse, effectively blueballed the billion dollar market by refusing to put out.

While, as the Daily Mail reported, “The disclosure drew criticism from health campaigners, who described the positive test as ‘preventable’ because porn stars often have unprotected sex on film,” market research suggests that seeing condoms (even glow in the dark ones) “is a turn off” for nearly all us gawkers.

And no wonder: besides making it much harder (if not impossible) to get a decent money shot, wouldn’t seeing something as clunky and mundane as condoms intruding in even the most hidden and hardcore of all your fantasies ruin the, well, fantastic element of it?

Aren’t deadly STDs the kind of thing porno watching voyeurs seek so to escape from desperately; the kind of thing better relegated to the bitter harshness of reality? And what does it mean when for us when we can’t even be safe from life’s hidden dangers in the kitschiest of our fantasies?
