This past Friday night’s ensemble cast of players left us pretty flabbergasted- in a good way of course. From dancing samba girls, to toxic tequila shots and the ever gregarious presence of our dear friend and director of El Museo del BarrioJulian Zugazagoitia and our perennial favorite society madam Yaz Hernaandez the evening was simply a runaway success.

Upon entering the evening dedicated to the celebration of the living and the dead (who suddenly appeared very alive and throbbing…) – Dia de los Muertos we were immediately struck by the bazaar and very clever costumes. From literal interpretations of Henri Magritte paintings (yes- there was a chap wearing a bowler hat with a sticking apple), to the girl with the sticking hatchet out of her head we were indeed delighted and swaying to the rumba and salsa beats as buxom scant ladies propagated the dance floor.

Guests included Lauren Santo Domingo, Christian Cota, Carlos Campos, Liliana Dominguez, Zani Gugelmann, Luisana Mendoza, but then again I couldn’t keep my eyes (hands) off those dancing girls. Oh the revelry- you simply had to be there.

We look forward to more wonderful things from El Museo del Barrio and politely extend our gratitude to Del Barrio’s young International Circle for extending an invitation to us- trust us it was very well received and honored. We simply adore you!
