Matthew Miller arrested after sexually assaulting two year old child on three separate occasions while the child’s mother, Lacey Take allowed the abuse to take place.
A 40 year old St. Louis man has been arrested after allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl on three separate occasions while a woman believed to be the child’s mother purportedly allowed the abuse to take place.
Matthew S. Miller, 40, of Madison County was charged with three counts of sexual assault and four counts of aggravated battery, while Lacey N. Take, 31, of Troy, Illinois, was charged with permitting sexual abuse of a child and two counts of child endangerment.
Police began investigating Miller after they were called to Anderson Hospital in Troy, Illinois, on June 23 on a possible sexual abuse, STLToday reported.
Authorities allege Miller sexually assaulted the girl once on June 10 and again two weeks later.
In the June 23 alleged assault, charging documents said he also drugged the girl with cocaine and caused bodily harm by biting her hand, leg and foot.
Charging documents said Take was charged with child endangerment because she did not get medical treatment for the girl after the first assault.
She was then subsequently charged with a second count of child endangerment and a count of permitting sexual abuse of a child because she left the toddler with Miller again despite knowing he had sexually assaulted her previously.
It remained unclear why the mother left her toddler daughter in the ‘care’ of Miller.
The child was transferred to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Miller was charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, three counts of aggravated battery (Class 3), and one count of aggravated battery (Class X). Take was charged with one count of permitting sexual abuse of a child and two counts of child endangerment- Fox2Now reported.
Miller’s bond was set at $1 million; Take’s was set at $500,000.
Miller faces a minimum of 50 years in prison on each count of predatory assault, 6 to 30 years on each Class X battery charge, and 2 to 5 years on each of the Class 3 charges. Take faces 4 to 15 years imprisonment on each count of permitting sexual abuse of a child.
