NYPD Officer Richard Evans suspended after allegations he was drunk on the job. 52nd precinct cop may have a drinking problem after intoxication complaints.

Making the tabloid rounds is the ‘interesting’ image of NYPD Officer Richard Evans, 44, who was photographed looking ‘a little less for wear’ after accusations the Bronx based cop was drunk while on the job. And how.

The photo comes courtesy of the nypost which shows our collective hero pot belly and all slumming it in the station house locker in what appears to be in his boxers, rolled up t shirt and his double chin head fast asleep in ‘la-la’ land.

Accusations of being drunk on the job led to the officer being suspended after being deemed unfit for duty‘ during his midnight-to-8 a.m. shift in the 52nd Precinct in Norwood

Told a police official: He was clearly inebriated. He was slurring his words.’

Ironically notice of NYPD Officer Richard Evans drinking escapade came after he and his rookie partner checked out a report of a drunken dispute between neighbors.

Upon arriving at the scene, one of the people there accused Evans of being drunk, which he denied, and the officer summoned a supervisor, sources said.

Adding haze to ignominy someone at the scene also shot video of the allegedly drunken cop while also making a complaint to 311.

Another drink anybody?

A sergeant responded, declared Evans fit for duty, and the cops all left without making any arrests, sources said.

Evans stayed in the field until a short time later, when a duty captain summoned him back to the precinct stationhouse near the New York Botanical Garden.

The captain interviewed Evans, declared him unfit for duty and immediately suspended him, sources said.

The incident led to Evans being suspended without pay, said NYPD spokesman J. Peter Donald.

Interestingly the cop who earned nearly $126,800 during fiscal 2016 (not bad if you can get it) including nearly $50,000 in overtime was described by sources as a problem drinker.

One source said he is ‘really sick and having issues.’

‘Nobody’s been able to do anything about it,’ another said.

Time for rehab?

A photo snapped last year shows Evans nodding off in a chair in the station’s locker room with his shirt hiked up, exposing his large gut.

Other officers suspected he was intoxicated at the time, said lawyer Eric Sanders.

‘This is part of a bigger problem in the Police Department, and this is why you have to question all these [police] shootings,’ said Sanders, who specializes in representing whistleblowing members of the NYPD.

Reiterated Sanders via the nydailynews: ‘Obviously this officer has a problem, but his problem jeopardizes his partner and the public safety,’

‘If he was driving drunk, Evans should have been arrested.’

Efforts to have Officer Richard Evans, a Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association delegate respond to media overtures to date has led to zero responses. Of note the cop’s union has also declined to respond to media queries.

Last year, Evans criticized longtime PBA President Pat Lynch for spending $13,000 in union funds on pricey steak dinners.

‘I live paycheck to paycheck,’ he griped.

Don’t we all….?
