Edward Furlong drug addiction: How a former 90’s Hollywood heart throb has had to contend with substance abuse and the resulting toll on his looks and career.

Sobering images of former Hollywood actor, Edward Furlong, 39 has sent the internet into a tailspin as punters speculate how the former teen heart throb came to markedly disintegrate.

While most of us look markedly different after 25 years, commentators on the web were nevertheless flummoxed after images comparing the disenchanted/bloated/bleary eyed appearing Furlong walking along the streets of Los Angeles vs that of images at his height back in 1991 where he played John Connor in Terminator 2 alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.

With heavy bags under his eyes (betraying many sleepless nights and signs of toxins slushing through the former actor’s body) along with a portly frame, Edward Furlong was anything but the matinee idol even he may have once imagined himself to be.

At his height, in the 1990’s, the actor also went on to play leading roles in American History X, American Heart, and Detroit Rock City.

Also looking equally non plussed is ex, Dawson Creek actress, Monica Keena who appears to be struggling with her own issues.

The images come as Furlong has contended with an uphill battle of alcoholism and drug addiction while purportedly continuing to work in show business (in what capacity is not necessarily understood).

The images underscore the dangers of the Hollywood dream and the underbelly that awaits for many of its aspirants, even the one who manage to get a foothold.

Told a report via people in 2006: ‘I was a nice little kid,’

‘Hollywood f–ked me up, man! Lots of money and lots of free coke will turn anybody into a cokehead. I was a heroin and cocaine addict. It was really scary.’

A report via the mirror tells of Furlong avoiding spending time in jail in 2013 after agreeing to spending time in rehab for his drug addiction after having already served 61 days behind bars.

He last starred in Star Trek: Renegades and Awaken last year as well as Kent Harper’s thriller Karma.

Furlong also enjoyed a five-episode stint in CSI.

Furlong has a long history of fights with his ex Rachael Kneeland, with whom he shares 10-year-old son Ethan.

Of question is to what extent Edward Furlong has been able to get a handle of his purported addiction to drugs and to what degree the pressures of Hollywood and personal demons led to the once promising actor struggling to come up for air…?
