Did Kayleene Danielle Greniger make up lies about a friend sexually violating her which led to her boyfriend murdering the man?
Kayleene Danielle Greniger, the 22 year old Minnesota girlfriend, whose boyfriend, Joseph Thoresen, 35, decapitated a man who allegedly raped her was on Thursday charged as an accomplice to murder.
The charges against the Grands Rapid woman came a day after her boyfriend, Joseph C. Thoresen was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder.
In second degree murder charges against Greniger, authorities accused the woman of hiding a machete her boyfriend used to decapitate 20 year old David Haiman. The man that Kayleene Greniger accused of raping her and purportedly inciting her boyfriend taking the law into his own hands.
Leading into the beheading, Greniger allegedly tied up and beat Haiman after he arrived at the Grand Rapids apartment she shared with Thoresen. She untied him, then Thoresen punched him repeatedly, according to the complaint.
Thoresen later ambushed Haiman along a road and used the machete to decapitate him after using a baseball bat and knife to kill him. Greniger is accused of hiding the machete in the couple’s apartment.
Greniger is charged with being an accomplice to second-degree murder after the fact, and also with third-degree assault, both felonies.
The woman’s arrest on Tuesday comes a few days after Kayleene Greniger recounted her story to authorities after leading authorities to Haiman’s buried head, Sunday morning.
A report via the Duluth News Tribune told of Greniger helping Joseph Thoresen in ‘destroying or concealing evidence of that crime, providing false or misleading information about that crime, receiving the proceeds of that crime, or otherwise obstructing the investigation or prosecution of that crime.’
Prior to the decapitation, the couple and their victim had driven together looking for drugs. They also smoked marijuana and meth according to Greniger.
Two days before Haiman’s remains were found, Thoresen allegedly forced a man to drive Haiman’s car from pursuing police, telling him he killed the vehicle’s owner. Triston Michael Corwin fled at speeds of 90 miles per hour and ended up in a ditch, claiming Thoresen had a knife and told him to ‘keep going and not stop.’
Upon not finding a knife, cops let Thoresen go. However, authorities realized it had been Haiman’s vehicle when he was reported missing two days later.
A report via the Star Tribune tells of cops yet to confirm Kayleene Danielle Greniger’s claim that David Haiman sexually assaulted her.
Both boyfriend and girlfriend remained jailed ahead of court appearances Tuesday. Thoresen’s bail has been set at $1 million, while Kayleene Danielle Greniger’s set at $100,000.
In the days since the beheading, Denise Sinner, a friend of the victim told of David Haiman having a ‘big heart.’
Adding: ‘He was the kindest person you’d want to meet,’
‘He looked out for everyone — kids, animals. He couldn’t harm anyone.’
