Richard Simmons hospitalized: What’s led to the fitness guru icon behaving strangely? Is he in danger, is the public over-reacting or are there grave concerns?
Former fitness guru and prototype reality star, Richard Simmons is back in the news after reports that the clandestine loner and self exiled heart-throb to desperate TV moms the world over has been hospitalized for ‘acting strangely‘.
Define acting strangely?
Mayhem came to the fore according to TMZ after the guru was observed acting bizarrely at his Hollywood Hills mansion Friday night, leading to ‘someone’ calling 911.
From there the 67 year old was taken to Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles where it has yet to be disclosed whether he was released or not?
Of note, the fitness guru, who one assumes is hardly as fit as he may have once been is said to have maintained his social media presence over the weekend (‘that will convince my fans I am not that crazy…‘) after having linked to a variety of articles and posts on twitter and Facebook.
Nevertheless speculation has run rampant that Richard Simmons’ social media updates were most likely at the hands of exterior directives (aka interns).

The latest fall from grace comes off the back of recent reports of the fitness guru behaving erratically, after friends of Richard Simmons ‘desperately’ sought out police intervention in March after believing the recluse to have been kidnapped by long term housekeeper, Teresa Reveles, 64.
So rampant were accusations that Simmons had run into foul play at the hands of his ‘controlling’ housekeeper, who Richard Simmons has told in the past he considers family, the woman was accused of controlling the fitness guru with the aid of black magic.

Told the ashen fitness guru at the time, woken up from his deep reclusive slumber:
‘I am not kidnapped. I am just in my house right now,’
‘No one should be worried about me. The people that surround me are wonderful people who take great care of me.’
Of Reeves, Simmons told: ‘She’s been with me for 30 years. It’s almost like we’re a married couple.’
Our collective hero added: ‘For the last 40 years I have been traveling, teaching classes, and I had a knee injury, so I had a knee replacement, which was very difficult for me.
‘I have really just been taking it easy, staying at home, working out in my gym and doing the things I haven’t done in a very long time.’
But that’s not the way Simmons’ former personal assistant Mauro Oliveira, 49, sees things, having accused Reveles of controlling our heartthrob with witch-craft.
Told Oliveira via the dailymail: ‘He told me last time we spoke. I asked him, does she control your life? He said “Yes”.
‘And I believe she’s doing black magic, yes I believe that’s what she’s doing.’
The latest concerns surrounding Simmons, who mysteriously has found himself being hospitalized this weekend (why and how?) comes after the funnyman fitness guru has rarely been seen in public since 2013.
Oliveira reckons Simmons’ ‘downward spiral’ began after a trip to Europe in February 2014 with Richard, himself and his brother and sister-in-law.
But the world turned dizzy according to Oliveira after one of Simmons’ ‘beloved’ Dalmatians died.
Told the concerned personal assistant: ‘He had 17 years with Hattie [who was put to sleep in April 2014] and well, the mental breakdown,’
‘He got completely messed up. He was already having some breakdown, some mental breakdown, some problems with anger management, some falling outs.
‘I believe it is a culmination of a lifetime. Because he’s always been high on life for his whole life and I think it finally crashed down.’
Of question is if Russell Simmons is in the grips of substance abuse and if so to what degree and if so what help is being rendered to the larger than life persona who of late has struggled to deal with his existential being….
