Lauren Hill, 26 a popular Michigan high school teacher and female soccer coach has been arrested after allegedly having a same sex relationship with one of her female students who played on the school team.
An English teacher and soccer coach at St Joseph High school in Michigan, the woman was charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct.
According to a report via WNDU the soccer coach who herself had been an exemplary player for Michigan University purportedly started the relationship with the 18 year old female student after coaching the school soccer team.
Pursuant to Lauren Hill’s arrest the teacher would resign her post whilst the student in question has yet to return to school since last week’s arrest.
Things would come to a head after a parent of a student reached out to the school about a possible inappropriate relationship between Hill and the student.
Following the April 29 tip off the school interviewed Hill before placing her on paid administrative leave.
From there the St Joseph Department of Public Safety was contacted who then conducted their own investigation leading them to find that Hill had an inappropriate relationship with the student.
Pursuant to her arrest Hill had been held at the Berrien County Jail until she posted a $10,000 bond on May 3.
Said Superintendent Ann Cardon: ‘Our high school administration and staff have handled this situation with tremendous professionalism and respect. Our main focus is always student safety and our efforts will be concentrated on providing a safe and calm learning environment as we finish the school year.’
Students have since told that Hill was a popular teacher at the school and they could not say anything bad about her despite the fact she had broken her trust and position as an authority figure who preyed on the student.
At present it is not necessarily understood if the teacher and the student have had any contact since her resignation…
