George Zimmerman, the notorious neighborhood night watchman who was acquitted of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin has allegedly suffered a gunshot wound to the face during an altercation with another man in Seminole CountyFlorida on Monday.

According to a report via WESH the shooting unfolded at the Baytree Center on Lake Mary Boulevard around 12.45pm. The center houses businesses and offices including doctors clinics.

According to a report via CNN the incident was sparked by an instance of road rage with a discernible bullet hole seen in the passenger window of the vehicle carrying Zimmerman.

At present it is not necessarily understood if Zimmerman or the other driver involved initiated the shooting.

Despite both vehicles being towed away and Zimmerman walking on his own unaided to an awaiting ambulance, authorities would decline to elaborate what had transpired.

That said, witness Kenneth Cornell, said he was exiting his car after lunch when a man, Matthew Apperson drove up and started yelling: ‘I shot George Zimmerman, call 911. I don’t have a phone.’

Cornell said the man didn’t know whether Zimmerman was hurt.

According to Cornell, the man told him that he and Zimmerman have had three disputes. This time, Zimmerman waved a gun and the man shot at him, according to Cornell.

Zimmerman’s attorney Don West has since told a bullet missed Zimmerman’s head, nevertheless he was sprayed with glass from his vehicle’s windshield and other debris.

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell said the shooting may have been related to an “ongoing dispute” involving Zimmerman and another person.

The latest incident, one of many the former neighborhood watch officer has become involved in since his 2013 acquittal has once again raised questions about the man’s character and whether in fact lawmakers were correct in invoking Florida’s Stand your ground rule and the way in which they pursued their criminal case against the man which led to his acquittal.

Other arrests to the unemployable (Zimmerman’s words) Florida man include being pulled over for speeding in Texas in July of 2013, shortly after his acquittal in which cops found a firearm in the glove compartment.

In September 2013, his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, called 911 and claimed he had attacked her father and threatened he with a gun. She decided to not press any charges.

Then in November 2013, Zimmerman was arrested for domestic violence against his new girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe. She later dropped the charges.

Nearly a year later, in September 2014, Zimmerman was arrested for a road rage incident.

After exchanging words with a truck driver, Zimmerman allegedly asked the him, ‘Do you know who I am?’, before allegedly saying, ‘I’ll (expletive) kill you.’

And in January, he was arrested for allegedly hurling a wine bottle at his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. No charges were filed in that case.

  1. Nobody would believe Zimmerman threatened somebody else with a gun!
Based on initial information it sounds the like shooter was acting in self defense.
