Viewers the world over are ecstatic after images of a labrador playing with a down syndrome boy with an aversion to humans falling over himself over Himalaya, his uncle’s Labrador.
The boy, Herman, aged five who resides in La Plata, Buenos Aires is seen courtesy of his mother, Ana unabashedly taking Himalaya, but not before a few moments of gentle feeling out.
The youtube video which has since gone viral shows the young afflicted boy shuffling over the dog and looking at him whilst Himalaya gently goes on to place a paw over his new best friend.
Nevertheless the boy who has an aversion to human touch isn’t necessarily giving in too quickly to Himalaya’s advances and for a moment the two play a gentle back and forth until the boy acquiesces.
Feeling once again game, Himalaya goes on to gingerly lay her paw on the boy’s legs. By now relenting, Herman starts to touch the dog before gently stroking her snout and pulling back her fur to reveal her teeth. Indeed!
Although Herman does continue to push the gentle giant away it becomes more of a game and towards the end of the four minute video the pair sit side-by-side contentedly and the world goes away in the dizzy belief that there is redemption and solace even in the most hideous ailments that can befall a human.
Goes on to write the boy’s mother on youtube: ‘Hernan, is a bit withdrawn and flees from physical contact.
‘He does not like be touched, but Himalaya (the dog) insisted so patiently, and she was so soft that’s why it is so moving, she is left to do anything. ‘
