Reginald Chance flipped bird to the media moments before his arraignment this weekend as a flock of media attended.
Moments before set to appear in front of a judge the biker flipped off reporters with both middle fingers.
The gesture leaves no mystery as to the state of mind of Chance who has since been identified as one of the perpetrators of last weekend’s hideous beating of tech executive Alexian Lien after an altercation along NYC’s West Side Highway turned into a disturbing high speed cat and mouse game.
The ensuing fracas and high speed car chase went on to be videotaped at the time by a fellow biker, Kevin Bresloff who has since cooperated with police and reportedly now received death threats.
Chance is seen as one of the bikers who went on to smash his helmet against Lien’s front window after the bikers finally caught up to him, before pulling him out for other bikers to beat.
During his arraignment, the man’s lawyer, Gregory Watts went on to tell that his client only sought to bring Lien to a halt after hitting a fellow biker and leaving him for dead and that Reginald Chance was not one of the men involved in the physical beating of Lien.
Told Watts somewhat incredulously in court: “It is entirely reasonable to try and identify the driver after a motor-vehicle accident.”
The lawyer also said the assault case was trumped up, because Lien, who received stitches to his face, never had to be hospitalized.
By sheer virtue of Chance’s strident gesture to the press, the toll of stress of the man’s current predicament is being clearly let out.
At the same time, the gesture (seen here) goes some way in possibly depicting the combative state of mind that Chance holds and how that too eventually has brought him in front of a court of law and in his current misery.
That said, public sympathy towards Reginald Chance has been anything but that as the media has relentlessly gone on to portray him as a rogue thug whilst he has maintained that he was simply trying to bring Lien to a halt and that he was only acting out of exasperation. A view that very few in the public hold with any virtue and perhaps for good reason as Lien’s family lives were put at jeopardy by the irresponsible and premeditated behavior of the bikers.
Interestingly the nypost goes on to tell earlier this year, Chance faced 25 years in prison, but got only community service under a deal approved by Judge Suzanne Mondo
Reginald Chance’s rap sheet showing 21 arrests for a litany of crimes including felony drug, robbery and weapons charges and of course a very defiant fuck you to the world…
At present Reginald Chance was ordered held in lieu $100,000 bond or $75,000 cash after being charged with gang assault in the first degree, assault in the first degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. Indeed fuck you!
