Having gone on today to win the coveted title of Miss World 2013, the world is now awash in curiosity as to the new owner of the title, Miss Philippines, Megan Young who is now being said to appear topless in one revealing photo shoot.
That said there were fears leading into the final day of the contest that the US born 23 year old’s chances of winning the title would be mitigated by those who had opposed her topless photo shoot for Philippines based Rouge magazine which she did in March 2012.
Told the UK’s ibtimes: “…..has surfaced and drawn ire from the fans.”
Reiterated one commentator: “A beauty queen is somebody that is good role model inside and out and obviously is a beautiful person. It’s not just about exterior beauty; a beauty queen has to have outstanding morals, elegance, femininity and class. Beauty queen should be seen as role models and not sex object,”
Nevertheless there were others that came to Megan Young’s defense as well.
Commented some: “These photos were published by these people with malice to discredit our Megan. Topless photos are those that show explicitly a woman’s bosom, and this is not the case in Megan’s. She will come out a winner in every aspect. I hope there are no last minute changes in the org. God bless our Ms World Philippines!”
“…her photos are works of art and not pornography.. It is a celebration of feminity!
That said leading into the Miss World pageant Megan Young did find herself being uninvited to participate in one event because of what some perceived to be her risque photo shoot:
It can be recalled that Megan was disheartened after failing to make the cut in Binibining Pilipinas golden anniversary pageant early this year. There were rumors that Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. decided not to let her participate the pageant because of her seductive photos published in a popular magazine—the same reason why other candidates were disqualified in the past.
