#Slanegirl, slut shaming and why it’s always different for girls.

It seems one girl, #slanegirl, has come off worse for wear after a photo of her giving a blow job to a two fellow teenager(s) went viral.

It all went down this past weekend at a music festival in Ireland which happened to draw a crowd of 80,000,had 700 on duty police officers whilst Eminem took to stage.

Explains the dailydot: One photo shows the girl surrounded by men in the crowd. In a second photo, the girl locks lips with a guy in a neon-green hat and matching pants. In another, more explicit shot, the same man is almost totally nude. He raises his hands victoriously in the air. He has not been harassed or bullied or had his identity broadcast to the Web.

Of course should anyone be really surprised that the boys in question ended up as heroes whilst the girl, #slanegirl ended up being tagged a slut? Both parties did something that was illicit in public, but yet as par for the course it is the girl who gets labelled the doer of capricious acts, never mind that it takes two to get a blow job going.

Although at 17, the girl is at the age of consent in Ireland she ended up having her full name revealed, her on TwitterFacebook4chanTumblr, and Reddit, and found herself at the center of a trending Twitter hashtag, and became the subject of a subsequent probe by the Irish Police.

The dailydot goes on to tell how the hashtag has gone on to be filled with a mix of mockery, vitriol, and angry defense of the girl as controversy builds over yet another young woman being slut-shamed and harassed over her sexual behavior.

In the wake of the backlash over the backlash, a popular Facebook slut-shaming page called Sickipedia, which had more than 14,000 likes, was taken offline after it posted pictures of the teenager and mocked her.

In the aftermath of the onslaught, the  17-year-old girl’s Twitter and Facebook accounts were deleted as of yesterday.

Good god, I hope her parents aren’t on Twitter or Facebook,” read a Reddit thread on r/Ireland.  The Independent went on to  describe the girl’s parents, meanwhile, as being “distraught.”

But it gets worse, The Independent goes on to tell of a separate complaint of the girl being sexually assaulted at an event unrelated to the photos.

So distraught has the girl become over the viral nature of the photos and the flack and abuse she has received that the girl found herself having to be admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.

Told a source:  “The teenager has not been medically fit enough to make a formal statement yet, but when that happens this could turn into a sexual assault investigation.”

The daily dot goes on to tell of  a Twitter rumor that the girl committed suicide earlier this evening not having a verifiable source. It may have been started by Twitter user @DenchLAD, whose account has been suspended. Then again would one be surprised as is sometimes the case that a young girl could end up reacting in such manner given the slut shaming so many young girls receive in society?

That said, photos of the girl, (are you surprised?), continue to circulate the Internet, with variants showing her in poses with Hitler and other memefied figures. #Slanegirl has already been listed as a meme at Know Your Meme.

Local authorities asked the public on Sunday to respect the girl’s privacy.

Whilst the general media has since gone on to pick up the story and chime in with expressed horror, one can’t help but wonder about the media’s complicit role in affirming certain stereotypical attitudes towards men and women which invariably go on to become part of the daily lexicon and when unleashed in the modern framework of the web can often have lethal consequences. Because as we all ought to remember, all women are sluts and all men are heroes. Right?

Why can’t you wrap your heads around the *glaringly obvious* fact that male and female sexuality is *not* the same?

There’s a distinct asymmetry between the sexes in favour of the woman. Essentially, an egg is valuable (because it’s scarce) while sperm is cheap (because it’s plentiful).

From this basic reality stems the fact that men compete for sexual access to women. You with me so far? So. If men compete for women it is then obvious *why* there is a sexual double standard and why it makes *PERFECT SENSE*:

A man who is seen sexing a woman (apparently for free) is lauded precisely because he’s fullfilling something that is intrinsicly difficult for most males (winning the mate competition and aquiring sex). At the same time a woman who is seen giving her wares away freely is shamed as a slut *precisely* because she is selling herself far below value, so to speak.

And, by the way, it is usally *women* and *not* men who are the most merciless about slut shaming. Because sluts diminish the *collective* sexual power of *all* women by increasing the supply of sex whilst simultaneously decreasing the demand.

Is this so difficult to grasp? What is it with you freaks? TL:DR? Think about a key and a lock. A key that opens many locks is known as a master key. But a lock that is opened by many keys is a pretty shitty lock.

Grow up and deal with it.

A whore sells her sex for money. So this girl is not a whore. Why should she be mocked for giving sexual pleasure. I wish more females were less inhibited and repressed when it comes to sex. I wouldn’t call this female a slut, I would call her an sexual angel.
