Geesh! Parents! Can’t leave home without them and you certainly can’t leave home with you….
Seems like NBC’s cameramen have a good eye for the good shit. Point in case Aly Raisman‘s parents anticipation of their girl as she prepares to compete in the gymnastics qualifiers.
It’s one thing to have your parents sitting in the audience at a high school talent show. It’s another to have them in the audience when you are competing in an international sporting event. United States Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman competed in the team qualifiers today, and the cameras at NBC caught the reactions of Raisman’s parents as she competed. And needless to say, it was a hilarious moment.
Raisman’s mother carries the weight of the shouted encouragement, yelling “Come on!” approximately every other second. Her father eventually gets into it as well, helpfully concluding the awkwardness with a random scream of… joy?… at the end.
But perhaps who best sums up this madness is the bleacher report: The video is a brief breakdown of the mind, and it’s beautiful. Lynn and Ricky Raisman slowly go insane as they watch their daughter perform before them.
As Raisman is on the floor working her magic, her parents are in the stands walking a tight rope with their sanity.
Sanity, insanity? Who would have thought. You can now add Aly Raisman’s parents in the new roster of instant celebrities. You better work it….
ps- Aly Raisman would go on qualifying for the all-around competition, usurping contender and fellow teammate Jordyn Wieber.
