Does this good shit belong to you?
Authorities are trying to work out who may be the mystery owner of a lot of 180 bales of marijuana left to sea. At present the stash said to have an estimated street value of more than $4 million and came in weighing at just over 8000 pounds was left floating apparently as a drop off. Which is another way of saying that’s a lot of good shit that has gone to waste….
ocregister: The floating bundles were first seen by a boater near the harbor around 12:01 p.m. Sunday, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Seth Johnson said. The bales were reportedly floating at least 15 miles off shore.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department sent three Harbor Patrol ships to aid in recovering the marijuana. A Coast Guard cutter was also sent to assist.
Michael Jimenez, a Border Patrol spokesman, called Sunday’s incident unusual. In most scenarios when marijuana bales are found dumped in the water it is because a vessel is trying to flee from authorities.
Yet what remains strange is that at no point had the authorities been aware of the stash which leads to the question did someone get cold feet when they chose to leave the good stuff out to sea? Or is there more than meets the eye going on? Or is it a situation someone overlooked collecting that afternoon’s stash?
But then a gawker commentator offered this prescient observation:
Clearly it’s part of the debris field from the tsunami last year. Just blame the Japanese.
