My particular favorite was a purple peacock patterned silk gown. After adjusting my eyes to the three dimensional jeweled gowns, I felt mesmerized by the simplicity of purples-green and black feathers drawn out. They were not pasted or sewn on, as many of the candied jewels had been. Imprinted onto silk, like watercolors—the fabric evoked exoticism and escape.
Long, iridescent gown frequently graced the runway—as women’s eyes shot open, with curiosity and intrigue, at the multi-jeweled embossed gowns. Form fitting and brilliantly tailored, her dresses to show off the female curves, Kati Stern’s background in architecture well prepared her for this gift—to design haute couture.
Venexiana is like a pastry chef, who incites viewers’ eyes, palates and hearts with sugar and detail. Short and long versions of many of the dresses, were showcased and catered to the cocktail party, yacht cruise or gala.
