Here’s a story to redeem your faith in humanity: eighteen-year-old Danielle Burns was with her parents in a shop of the Belfast Victorian Hospital when she went into an epileptic seizure. Her father cradled her head, doctors and paramedics were quick to arrive to the scene, but all the people behind her could think about was their goddamn ice cream.
Danielle’s father, David, told BBC News that one man tapped one of the medic’s shoulder, said, “Excuse me, mate, could you pass me that banana milkshake?” and the medic, stunned at this man’s impudence, turned around and did just that.
I don’t know, maybe you find audacious sangfroid funny, but the paramedic for one was disgusted with himself. David Burns is lucky to have the ear of BBC for such a repulsive story; maybe next he can send a clip of it to the producers of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
