Teacher forced out after student exposes her as an ex porn star.

The lessons Tera Myers never got to teach in her classroom.

A high school teacher, Tera Myers at Parkway High School- Missouri has been forced to quit after one of her students came across her career as a porn star 15 years ago.

dailymail.co.uk: Ms Myers was separately suspended for her pornographic work in 2006 when she was working a teacher in Paducah, Kentucky, under the name Tericka Dye.

Teachers and parents stood by her that time but her contract was not renewed, as  officials feared her past would be a classroom distraction.

What may have been a leaked memo of Ms Myers assumed alias back in 2006 may have stayed incognito had it not been for an interview Ms Myers did with Dr Phil (and we know where those interviews end up going- in tabloids like this one) which recently caught the attention of a pupil at the school.

Parkway North officials said they did not know about her past until a student found the video, and were left wondering if their background and reference checks are sufficient.

Because everyone knows porn stars are an unsavory bunch, never mind the degree of attention they command from the world over, even one supposes from fellow teachers at the dead of night.

She said in May 2006: ‘Anybody who’s been in my classroom can tell you how much I love teaching and how much I love these students.

‘That should be what matters more than anything I’ve ever done in my past’.

Ms Myers said she made the film

True, perhaps, but with teachers and parents particularly finicky as to who actually gets to spend time around children, widespread concern ensued and what Ms Myers believed to be a buried past that in theory ought not affect her ability to teach became a public outcry.

Ms Myers left the school ‘out of respect for her privacy and that of her family,’ a school district spokesman told the New York Daily News.

‘She was concerned about the impact it would have in the building.’

He added that the district was surprised to learn of the videos and ‘believe she has tried to move on with her life’.

Which raises the ultimate question, how much attention should we pay to an individual’s past in their ability to perform current duties and is it perhaps a case that what was really in question wasn’t so much moral turpitude of Ms Myers, but the moral turpitude of school administrators? After all nothing hits home more than an overt awareness of one’s own predilection for the diabolical.
