The joie de vivre of Lou Doillon.

And of course in their own way, each commentator is right- how many 19 year olds do you know who are rich on their own (Ms Doillon coincidentally is 28 years old) and when we say she is the paradigm of cool are we really oozing off the body of work that has come before Ms Doilon or are we genuinely fascinated by her achievements?

If one looks in wikipedia to get a sense of her foreboding gravitas they will find the following: At the age of nine, her appearance was distinctive, with Indian leggings under short dresses, worn with Grateful DeadT-shirts and rollerblades, and long dreadlocks. By the time she was 11½, she had tattoos and a stud in her tongue.[2])

But then what about the achievements of some other young budding actress/model? Will we recognize her when she walks past or will we have to wait for someone to point out who’s mother/father she is or isn’t? Which probes the bigger question what responsibility do journals like Huffpo have to draw attention to other namesakes not necessarily gold gilded? But then again, who said a magazine had to become a navigator of culture and truth when at the end of the day it’s in the business of entertainment. Assuming one can define what that word actually means anymore in a changing media landscape.

That said have a look at some choice images I downloaded and ask yourself- “If this girl was walking down the street, unannounced to me- would I look twice at her? And if she were to get up on stage and extoll a role would I be deeply affected?

After all who we are isn’t necessarily where we come from, but what we can also say and do…even if Huffpo likes to remind you of other facts.
