Reality TV stars were in abundance at the event, including some of the Real Housewives of NYC, as well as some Project Runway alumni, Logo’s “gay housewife” and photographer Mike Ruiz, and Wendy Williams, who was wandering around in a fierce leopard print and of course perennial Scallywag favorite stylist Derek Warburton. Other guests included model Lydia Hearst, fashion icon Patricia Field, dandy and Editor at large Peter Davies and Editor in Chief of Paper Mag– Mickey Boardman.The silent auction went a little overtime but is expected to raise around $250,000 for the charity.
It wasn’t all cocktails and celebrities, though. As he always does, Tim Gunn brought a level of gravitas to an evening of fashion, fun, and outsized personalities. He got a little political on the runway when he mentioned the fact that in 28 states, you can still be fired for being gay, lesbian, or transgendered. He also brought out Dr. Marjorie J. Hill, the CEO of the GHMC, who reminded us of the sobering fact that one in five New Yorkers is HIV positive and unaware of it.
